The Bats of Austin come alive in 3-Dimensions
The design shows the iconic Congress Bridge in Austin, Texas - home to the largest Mexican Free-Tailed Bat Colony on Earth.
The design was developed to highlight the native Mexican Free-tailed bat species in central Texas and highlights the Congress Avenue Bridge bat population in particular. We took care to match both the morphology of the Mexican Free-tailed bat and the flight mechanics of the wing motion.
The Mexican free-tailed bat is a migratory species that ranges between central Mexico and Texas. These bats are the official flying mammal of the State of Texas. Bats are unique and support healthy ecosystems by helping to keep insect populations under control. They are also under threat making education an important component for any efforts to support and protect these important animals.
